RCA - ATC 113 - ALIGNMENT PROCEEDINGS - SERVICE MODE

ERROR CODES

     If certain failures occurs in the chassis, error codes will be stored in the chassis EEPROM .  These error codes are displayed in parameters '1', '2'&'3'.  Parameter '1' stores the error code for the first failure experienced by the instrument.  Similarly, parameter '2' stores the error code for the second failure.  Parameter '3' automatically updated to display the error code for the most recent failure experienced by the instrument.

ERROR CODES.

        HEX,    DEC,    DEVICE,    CONDITION
  1. 00 => 0 => NO ERROR CODE THROWN.
  2. 03 => 3 => DETECTED BY MICRO => 12V RUN FAULT.
  3. 08 => 8 => T4-CHIP => XRP EVENT DETETED.
  4. 09 => 0 => T-4 CHIP => POWER ON RESET.
  5. 0A => 10 => F2PIP => POWER ON RESET.
  6. 0B => 11 => STEREO DECODER => POWER ON RESET.
  7. 10 => 16 => DETECTED BY MICRO => RUN 12C CLOCK OR DATA CLAMPED AT LOGIC STATE ZERO.
  8. 12 => 18 => DETECTED BY MICRO => STANDBY 12C CLOCK OR DATA CLAMPED AT LOGIC STATE ZERO.
  9. 2C => 44 => F2PIP => NO ACKNOWLEDGE FROM DEVICE.
  10. B0 => 176 => STEREO DECODER => NO ACKNOWLEDGE FROM DEVICE.
  11. B4 => 180 => THREE LINE COMB FILTER => NO ACKNOWLEDGE FROM DEVICE.
  12. 90 => 144 => VIDEO MATRIX SWITCH => NO ACKNOWLEDGE FROM DEVICE.
  13. C4 => 196 => MAIN TUNER => PLL BUS FAULT.
  14. C6 => 198 => MAIN TUNER => DAC BUS FAULT.
     The presence of a "0" in the error code value indicates that No Failure had occurred  since the last time the error code parameters were reset.  The error codes should be reset to "0" after servicing using "Vol+ | Vol- buttons.
Because, a failure of a bus IC is a possible reason for needing service, normal acknowledgement checking is disabled in the service mode.  If an IIC device has failed, its address will be stored in the error code area.

EXITING SERIVCE MODE.

     Service mode can be exited at any time by pressing the Power Button.  New data is stored in the EEPROM when exits.

X-Ray shutdown check.

  • Momentarily apply a short between the shut down test point [BL901-located at the back edge of the chassis near main tuner] and chassis ground (main tuner shield). The instrument should shut down immediately, then turn back ON after approx: 2seconds.
  • Apply and maintain  short between the shut down test point and chassis ground.  The instrument must shut down.  The instrument will attempt to restart several times, then remain Off.
  • Remove the short from BL901.
  • Enter the service mode and reset the error code parameters to "0".

RCA - ATC 113 - SERVICE MODE ALIGNMENTS

USING FRONT PANEL CONTROLS TO ENTER SERVICE MODE

  • Turn ON the TV.
  • Press and Hold "Menu" button.
  • Press and Release "Vol+" button.
  • Release the "Menu" button. Service mode screen will be displayed.
     The parameter (P) number is on the left side of the display and represents the function that will be performed.  The value (V) is on the right side of the display and represents the decimal value stored for the function selected.  Once the Service Mode Security Code has been entered, the Ch Up | Ch Dn buttons on the front panel of the TV (not with the remote control) are used to change the parameter (P) number.  The Vol + | Vol- buttons are used to change the decimal value (V) of the function.

     When the service mode is accessed, the parameter will be [0].  Parameter [0] is used to input the security code.  The security code is necessary to protect the factory alignments from inadvertent modification.  Attempting to change the parameter (P) using [CH up] or [CH dn] before the proper security code is entered will cause the instrument to Exit the service mode.

SECURITY CODES

     When the service mode is first entered, the parameter (P) will come up set at [0], which corresponds to the security code function.  With the parameter (P) set to "0" adjust the value (V)  using Vol+ | Vol-  to '76' for access to the Front Panel Service Mode.  Set the value (V) to '200' for chip per check operation.

     Once the security code have been set, individual alignments can be accessed by pressing Ch Up | Ch Dn changing the parameter (P) number.

     Once a parameter (P) has been selected for a particular alignment the Vol+ | Vol-  buttons can be used to change the value (V) of the alignments selected.

Osram.  Type Number [P-VIP 300/1.3 E21.8].  Maximum Wattage - 300W
Serial Number [SPEC LBL PRINTING]. Spec: number details:  For example, if Spec number printed is: (99J8177B81YWWXXXXXH H):
99J8177B81 => is part number.
Y => Year [2004]
WW => Week.
XXXXX => Serial Number. Every week need to reset back 00001.
H H => Plant code.  H=BQY, P=BQM, T=BQS, X=BQX
USE AND REPLACEMENT OF LAMP
When the lamp indicator lights up red or a message appears suggesting it is time to replace the lamp, install a new lamp.  An old lamp may cause malfunction in the projector and in some instances it may explode.  The lamp has been in operation for 1980 hours.  Install a new lamp for optimal performance.  If the projector is normally run with preset "economic' mode selected by its menu, the projector can continue to operate until 2890 hour lamp warning appears.
The lamp has been in operation for 2980 hours, the power will shut down in 20 hours time.  A new lamp should be fitted to avoid the inconvenience when the projector runs out of lamp time.  The lamp has been in operation for over 3000 hours.  The message will flash in the center of the screen together with the lamp indicator lighting up red for 40 seconds.  The projector will shut down after 40 seconds.  The lamp MUST be replace before the projector will operate normally.
 Lamp Replacement.
  1. Turn the power OFF and disconnect the projector from the wall socket.
  2. Turn the projector cover.  Then loosen the screws and remove the lamp cover.  If the lamp is hot, avoid burns by waiting for 45 minutes until the lamp has cooled.
  3. Loosen the screw that fixes the lamp to the projector.  If the screw is not loosened completely , you could injure your fingers .  so it is strongly recommended that to use a magnetic screw driver.
  4. Lift the handle, so that it stands up.  Use the handle to slowly pull the lamp out of the projector. Pulling too quickly may cause the lamp to break and scatter broken glass in the projector.  do not place the lamp in locations where water might splash on it, children can reach it, or near inflammable materials.Do not insert your hand in to the projector after lamp removed.  If you touch the optical components inside, it could cause color unevenness and distortion of projected images.
  5. Insert the new lamp.  Make sure that the handle is fully locked and tighten the screw firmly. A loose screw may cause a bad connection, which could result in malfunction.  Do not over tighten the screw
  6. Re-install the lamp cover and tighten the screw.  Do not turn the power ON with the lamp cover removed.  Whenever the lamp is replaced, reset the total lamp operation timer.  Do not reset if lamp is not replaced, as it could cause damage.
  7. To Reset the Lamp Counter [1] Press and Hold Exit on the projector three seconds to display the total used lamp time.  [2]  Press Menu button on the projector or on the remote control to access the lamp hour timer. An adjustment message will appear.  [3]  Press Left or Right button to reset lamp hours and press EXIT to leave.
