RCA - ATC 113 - ALIGNMENT PROCEEDINGS - SERVICE MODE

ERROR CODES

     If certain failures occurs in the chassis, error codes will be stored in the chassis EEPROM .  These error codes are displayed in parameters '1', '2'&'3'.  Parameter '1' stores the error code for the first failure experienced by the instrument.  Similarly, parameter '2' stores the error code for the second failure.  Parameter '3' automatically updated to display the error code for the most recent failure experienced by the instrument.

ERROR CODES.

        HEX,    DEC,    DEVICE,    CONDITION
  1. 00 => 0 => NO ERROR CODE THROWN.
  2. 03 => 3 => DETECTED BY MICRO => 12V RUN FAULT.
  3. 08 => 8 => T4-CHIP => XRP EVENT DETETED.
  4. 09 => 0 => T-4 CHIP => POWER ON RESET.
  5. 0A => 10 => F2PIP => POWER ON RESET.
  6. 0B => 11 => STEREO DECODER => POWER ON RESET.
  7. 10 => 16 => DETECTED BY MICRO => RUN 12C CLOCK OR DATA CLAMPED AT LOGIC STATE ZERO.
  8. 12 => 18 => DETECTED BY MICRO => STANDBY 12C CLOCK OR DATA CLAMPED AT LOGIC STATE ZERO.
  9. 2C => 44 => F2PIP => NO ACKNOWLEDGE FROM DEVICE.
  10. B0 => 176 => STEREO DECODER => NO ACKNOWLEDGE FROM DEVICE.
  11. B4 => 180 => THREE LINE COMB FILTER => NO ACKNOWLEDGE FROM DEVICE.
  12. 90 => 144 => VIDEO MATRIX SWITCH => NO ACKNOWLEDGE FROM DEVICE.
  13. C4 => 196 => MAIN TUNER => PLL BUS FAULT.
  14. C6 => 198 => MAIN TUNER => DAC BUS FAULT.
     The presence of a "0" in the error code value indicates that No Failure had occurred  since the last time the error code parameters were reset.  The error codes should be reset to "0" after servicing using "Vol+ | Vol- buttons.
Because, a failure of a bus IC is a possible reason for needing service, normal acknowledgement checking is disabled in the service mode.  If an IIC device has failed, its address will be stored in the error code area.

EXITING SERIVCE MODE.

     Service mode can be exited at any time by pressing the Power Button.  New data is stored in the EEPROM when exits.

X-Ray shutdown check.

  • Momentarily apply a short between the shut down test point [BL901-located at the back edge of the chassis near main tuner] and chassis ground (main tuner shield). The instrument should shut down immediately, then turn back ON after approx: 2seconds.
  • Apply and maintain  short between the shut down test point and chassis ground.  The instrument must shut down.  The instrument will attempt to restart several times, then remain Off.
  • Remove the short from BL901.
  • Enter the service mode and reset the error code parameters to "0".
