How to enter Service Mode - AKAI - CTW-3257


SERVICE MODE ENTRY
  • Switch On the receiver, by pressing main switch.
  • Press "Menu" "TV" and "i" buttons successively within 5 seconds, after main switch is ON.
  • NB:  If the receiver remains in standby condition, after selecting the service mode, switch ON  the receiver by pressing the TV button 'twice' and select the service mode by pressing "i" button.
  • To Exit from service mode, switch Off the receiver using the main ON/Off switch.
FAULT DIAGNOSIS
  • By pressing 'red' button in the service mode, the processor checks all possible addresses of bus-driven circuits and shows the settings on the screen.  This feature also can be used in fault finding.  If an option bit is not '1' when it should be of if it is not possible to change it to '1' by using number buttons , the IC is either not present or it is faulty.
Changing the Option Bytes.
  • In service mode, select configuration mode by pressing 'red' button.

  1. SW VER:  microprocessor software version.
  2. NVM VER:  NVM software version.
  • Select IIC device byte 1-4 or option byte 1-5 with cursor button  Up/Dn.  The selected bytes will be high lighted.
  • Set the bits using number buttons [0-7].
  • Store the setting by pressing OK button.
  • Return to service mode, by pressing 'red' button again.
Remote control Buttons in Service Mode.
  • When the receiver is in service mode, select the normal TV mode by pressing the TV button, and return to service mode by pressing the "i" button.  Number and cursor buttons are used for service adjustments.  The 'Yellow' button hides temporarely the service menu..  The OK button stores the settings.
LANGUAGE SELECTION
  • Press 'Menu" button [under the lid]
  • Select 'Setup', and press OK button.
  • Select Language and press OK button.
  • Select the desired language and press OK button.
  • Press TV button to Exit.
INITILIZATION 
  1. Set the receiver to service mode
  2. Press 'red' button to pre-confugurate the set.  Green LED will flash once.  At the same time, controller will check NVRAM and initializes it automatically if it was 'empty'.  When it is complete the green will light up.
  3. Switch OFF the receiver by pressing the mains switch.
