VESTEL - AK-49 CHASSIS SERVICE MODE and ADJUSTMENTS


Part-1

TO ENTER SERVICE MODE 
  • Enter the Main Menu, and then press digits [4=>7=>2=>5] in sequence to enter the service mode.
  • All system geometry, and white balance alignments are performed in production service mode.  Before starting these alignments, make sure sure that all manual alignments are done correctly.
SCREEN ADJUSTMENT
  • For screen adjustment [VG2] item should be selected at the service menu. 
  • Then the screen 'pot-meter' is gently adjusted until the 'STABLE IN' sign appears.
FOCUS ADJUSTMENT.
  1. TV is tuned to the signal.
  2. Then, Focus Pot-meter; the upper pot on the rear side of the FBT transformer, is adjusted for optimum focussing drive.  For double focus tubes, there will be two focus potmeteres, each of them should be adjusted for optimum focus on the screen.
FAPS
 The option of APS (Automatic Program Searching) item are ON or OFF.  In order to active APS installation procedure when the TV is turned for the very first time, select 'ON'.  In order to start TV without APS installation procedure, slect 'OFF'.

ISPM:
  In System Programming Mode, for software update. [Off].
INIT:
  Initialize NVM.  [Off].
AGCSPD:
  IF AGC Speed [1]
AGCTO AGC Take over.  Also used as TOP, when an internal AGC tuner is used. [33].
COFF:  Cut Off.
VSD:  Vertical Scan Disable [31]
VG2 VG2 voltage adjustment.[31]
TUBE:  4:3 picture tube used or 16:9 picture tube used.  [0=16:9 & 1=4:3]
VERT ZOOM:  Vertical Zoom for 16:9 [35].
VERT SLOPE: Vertical Slope [37]
VERT SHIFT: 
 Change vertical shift by "▲/▼" buttons, till the test pattern is vertically centred.  Horizontal line at the enter of the test pattern is in equal distance both to the upper and lower side of the picture tube.  Check and re-adjust V-SHIFT item if the adjustment becomes improper after some other geometric adjustments are done.  [25 is a typical value to this item]
VERT AMP
 Vertical Amplitude (Height) [33] Value may vary set to set.
SCORRECTION:  S-Correction [11] 
V-LINC:  VLx, 0: Tam.  1: Sadece alt, 2: Sadece ust [ 0].

                                           TO UPDATE THE FIRMWARE

  1. Remove AC power cord from the PDP for power Off.
  2. Connect the serial cable with between PO-TV.  Connect the D-Sub Conn of cable of Main FW update being provided to PC .  Connect the 3.5mm Jack to PDP-TV.
  3. Move the firmware folder in PC.
  4. Run "Flashexpress_logo.exe" in your PC.
  5. Select "Folder" which is put firmware in Flashexpress.
  6. Select the port of the PC and speed of communication.  It can be adjustable per setting of PC.
  7. Select installing "Inf file".  Select "WARE3_boot.inf" at this time.
  8. Connect the Power Cord by pushing "Flash" button.  Connect the power cord of TV.  
  9. Update will start, and will complete. 
  10. After the update is completed,  disconnect the update cable. Power 'OFF' TV can be 'On' according to Options at this time.
After updating the firmware of the main board, the TV should be resetted.  
  • Push the buttons in the following order after the TV is Power On.
  • [MUTE => SLEEP => PIC.MODE => MENU => INFO(ENTER]

  • Do the "Reset" by choosing the "7. Reset".
  • Select [7] and press "Enter" button to reset the TV to Factory Default.
  • The firmware version can be checked by selecting [6] and press Enter button on the remote control.

TO ENTER SERVICE MODE
  1. Enter into child lock of main Menu in TV Mode, and press "OK".
  2. The password input box will appear.
  3. Use remote control to enter [7=>Red key => 9 => Blue key].
  4. Factory mode window will be displayed.

The "M" denotes entering into Factory Mode now, the figures of index denotes the index number now, the HWUC_BRI  denotes the name of adjusting item now, the 0x1F denotes the numeric value.
Each item will have only one index number, the operator press the numeric key or press P+ | P- key directly.
  • If no special demand, do not enter into the 20th item [design mode].
  • When tuning the 16th item, the storage data will be cleaned off.  If not necessary, do not adjust it, the items of index number 1,2,3,4,5,6 are not necessary to adjust. 
METHODS OF ADJUSTMENT
  • Select the adjusting item operator can skip to the adjusting item by pressing the number key, also can select the adjusting item in the order of P+ | P-, when pressing the number key. 
  • If the adjusting item is 1 to 9, input the corresponding number keys and press 'OK" button.
  • For example, press number key-8 when adjusting the volume, can see the color which become Green, then press down 'OK".
  • The colour of index number turns Red indicates already selected corresponding volume adjusting item.
  • Adjusting methods adjust it according to the operating key in the list.  
  • For one acting operation.  Press OK | V+ (example Autocolor)
  • For some variable add/reduce, example Volume V+ / V-.
  • All menu functions are on in factory mode, if necessary can use menu to check items and effect test.

TO ENTER SERVICE MODE

  • Set the "Volume" to [0].
  • Press and Hold the 'Mute" button on the remote control, and the 'Menu" button on the TV set, simultaneously to enter service mode.
  • To "Exit" from service mode, turn OFF the TV by its main power ON|OFF switch.
The user service mode adjustment can be changed only when service personal adjust the whole set data during servicing, as the control data have dramatic effects on functions, and performance of the TV.

  • To enter service mode to this set, using customer remote control:
  • Enter [1=>9=>7=>2] by remote control, when Main Menu appears.

  • Brightness Mode => Auto => To adjust general brightness.
  • RS232 setting => 19200 => Slip speed for Software Downloads.
  • Customer Logo => X  => To choose the customer logo, if available (1,2 etc)
  • Operation Time => .... => Shows the operation time since first switch ON, can be resettled by technician.
  • Default colour settings => ----- => To adjust general colour settings, normal value is: RGB  offset 7 and RGB gain 128.
  • Power On Input => Last => Defines which input is active after switching On the unit.
  • Temperature settings => Shows temperature threshold for temperature alert function.  Templ:60 degreeC; Temp2: 65 degreeC; Temp3: 63 degreeC; also shows all time max and Min temperature, which can be resetted by technician.
  • Full Mask => Off  => Available functions: Inverted; Red; Green; blue; Full White.  Might help against Burn In.
  • Sub Volume => ...... => Defines volume setting of each single input separately.
  • Version | System Info  => Soft | Hardware version.
  • Reset Everything => Resets all settings to factory defaults, also erases all channel settings.

OPERATION OF SERVICE FACTORY MODE
  • The settings for the following functions are set to OFF when Service Factory Mode is entered; including when the "FAY" command is received.

USER DATA
  • User data on picture- and audio-quality adjustments are not reflected , and the factory preset data are output.  User data will be retained in memory.  When unit enters Service Factory Mode, the current audio-quality adjustment data will be send be retained in memory.
  • As to data on various settings, user data will be applied to the items that are associated with signal format change; screening, switching, etc.
  • Data on screen , ie, Screen position, Meaning clock dividers, and not including data on screen size, are reset to default values(data stored in memory will be retained).  Screen size will be retained.
