HP COMPAQ PRESARIO - PAVILION - HOW TO RESET - HOW TO REMOVE HARD DRIVE - MEMORY MODULE

HOW TO RESET
Occasionally, the Windows operating system or the notebook might stop responding, so that you cannot turn the notebook off.
If this happens, try the following in the order listed:
  • Press the power button to restart.
  • If possible, shut down Windows by pressingctrl+alt+del, and then selecting Shut Down > Restart.
  • Press and hold the power button for about 4 seconds until the display shuts down. Then press the power button again to restart.
  • Use a ballpoint pen or a straightened paper clip to press the reset button on the bottom of the notebook.

To boot from a CD, insert a bootable CD (such as a Recovery disc) into the optical drive, and then restart. Press ‘Esc’ when the HP logo appears, and then select the optical drive as the temporary boot device.
COMPUTER SET-UP
Information and settings in Computer Set-up are accessed from the Main, Security, Advanced, or Tools menus:
  • Turn on or restart the notebook. Press  f10  while the F10 = ROM-Based Setup message is displayed in the lower-left corner of the screen.
  • To change the language, use the cursor control keys to navigate to the Advanced menu.
  • To view navigation information, press f1.
  • To return to the Computer Set-up menu, press EsC.Select the Main, Security, Advanced, or Tools menu.
To close Computer Set-up and restart the notebook:
Select Exit > Exit Saving Changes, and then press enter.
 Or
Select Exit > Exit Discarding Changes, and then press enter.
Or
Select Exit > Load Setup Defaults, and then press enter.
When you are prompted to confirm your action, press f10.
DISASSEMBLE PROCEDURE
Before you begin any removal or installation procedures:
  • Shut down the notebook. If you are unsure whether the notebook is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on and then shut it down through the operating system.
  • Disconnect all external devices connected to the notebook.
  • Disconnect the power cord.
To remove the battery pack by following these steps:
  • Turn the notebook upside down with the front panel toward you.
  • Slide and hold the battery release latch [1] toward the back of the notebook.
  • Use the notch in the battery bezel to slide the battery pack to the left [2].
  • Remove the battery pack.

Remove the hard drive by following these steps:
  • Remove the 2 rubber screw covers [1] that conceal the hard drive retention screws.
  • Spare part number 371808-001 should be used to replace the hard drive rubber screw covers.
  • Remove the 2 PM2.0×6.0 screws [2] that secure the hard drive to the notebook.
  • Use the notch in the hard drive bezel to slide the hard drive forward [3].
  • Remove the hard drive.
  • Remove the 2 PM1.5×5.0 shoulder screws [1] that secure the hard drive bezel to the hard drive.
  • Remove the hard drive bezel [2].
  • Remove the 4 PM2.5×4.0 screws [1] that secure the hard drive frame to the hard drive.
  • Remove the hard drive frame [2].
  • Remove the hard drive connector [3].
MEMORY MODULE REMOVAL
  • Loosen the 2 PM2.0×4.0 screws [1] that secure the memory module compartment cover to the notebook.
  • Lift the back edge of the memory module compartment cover and swing it forward [2].
  • Remove the memory module compartment cover.
  • Spread the 2 retaining tabs [1] that secure the memory module to the memory module socket. (The module rises up).
  • Remove the memory module by pulling it away from the memory module socket at a 45-degree angle [2].
