Verify and make sure that the ballast operation is OK before proceed.
The symptom can range from
No video.
No turn On [Dead].
LED error code flashing.
There are 3 types of chassis involved in 2004 DLP line.
L3 & L5 CHASSIS SET-UP
- Remove the lower back cover of the unit.
- Remove the Lamp Assembly from the Light Engine.
- Pull back the Light Engine Assembly slightly and do Ballast Test. Follow up.
- Plug in the unit.
- Turn Power ON.
- During DLP lamp start process, the DMD PCB activates the Ballast PCB. If the Ballast is operating properly, the linger Spark Gap Tube will begin to glow a few seconds into the process. The Spark Gap Tube should only glow for a short time, and must go dark. An audible sound is also heard during this time. This procedure will repeat every 15 to 30 seconds for approx: 2 to 4 minutes.
- If the Spark Gap Tune ignites, yet lamp never turns ON, make sure that the lamp is defective.
- If the Tube does not light up; check and change the power supply PCB. If it lights up, check/change the DMD PCB. Check all connections from and to the DMD PCB.
L7 CHASSIS SETUP
- Remove the back cover of the unit.
- Remove Lamp Assembly from Light Engine.
- Remove plastic ballast cover and pull back the light engine.
L7 BALLAST TEST
- Plug in the unit.
- Turn power ON.
- During DLP lamp starting process, the DMD PCB activates the Ballast PCB. If the Ballast is operating properly, the Igniter Spark Gap Tube will begin to glow for a few seconds. The Spark Gap Tube will only glow for a short amount of time, and then go dark. An audible sound is also heard during this time. This process will repeat every 15 to 35 seconds for a period of 2 to 6 minutes.
- If the Spark Gap Tube ignites, yet the Lamp never turns ON, replace the Lamp. It is defective.
- If the tube does not light up, check and change the power supply PCB. If it lights up, check/change the DMD PCB. Check all connections to and from the DMD PCB.
