PHILIPS ANUBIS FIGHTER CHASIS TVs - SERVICE MODE & REPAIR TIPS

The I2C processor can detect the malfunctions of all I2C controlled ICs by Serial Clock and Serial Data.  Maximum three error codes can be detected and displayed at switch ON the set.  Description of error codes are

1. PLL TUNER => TUNER
2. EPROM CHECKSUM => SET IS NOT CORRECTLY CONFUGURED.
3. SIMULCAST TUNING => TDA 8842
4. 2CS STEREO DECODER => TDA9840
5. INTERNAL RAM ERROR => IC7600
6. EEPROM => IC7710
7. NICAM STEREO DECODER => SAA7280
8. NOT USED.

To enter the service mode to these sets, short circuit [m28 & m29] near the microprocessor for a short moment while switchon on the TV set.

An "S" on screen will be displayed, indicates that the set is in service mode.  Be very carefull when short circuit these points.

In service default condition, all controls to set will be 50% except volume.  Volume will be 25%.  VST will be at programme-1 and PLL will be tuned to 475.25MHz.  All DC voltages indicated in its service manual are mesured in service mode default condition.

To exit from service mode, the short circuit between pins [M28 & M29] should be removed.  Only an experienced service technician could do service mode adjustments to these sets.

At the printed indication on the microprocessor, the last four digits [AABB] indicates the software number [cluster] and version.The [AA] indicates the software number, and "BB] indicate the masking and verson of that particular software. [for example if these four digits are 0234, the software number is 02, and '3' is masking and '4' is the version.

Functions of the Service Service Mode are:

Display the software version and version, set all software controlled options, display error codes detected, and erase error code if if any detected in the past.
In service mdoe, following menu will be displayed.
