MEMORY INITIALIZATION




WARNING

  • This should be done in extreme cases because, some I2C data will be reset as well.
  • Before beginning  write down the I2C data values for Horizontal Centering for Progressive and HD models [H-Pos] and Sub Bright [Sub Brt] data values.  These data values will be changed during this process.
Memory INITIALIZATION  should be done for the following symptoms.

SUB BRIGHT UNCORRECTED:
 If the SUB BRIGHT is not corrected after Memory Initialization, the picture will appear darker than before.

HORIZONTAL CENTERING H-POSITION CHANGED:
If H-POSI data values are not correct, a shadow or slight fold over may appear on the right hand side of the screen. When the Digital Convergence Grid is turned on, the fold over will be seen on the right side.

DO NOT attempt to correct via convergence adjustments.  Re-enter the correct data values for the adjustment H POSI (in progressive and in HD models).


INSTRUCTIONS TO ACCESS THE SERVICE MENU, AND VIEW THE I2C DATA VALUES.

  • The Set should be OFF.
  • Press and hold the INPUT button on the front panel, continue to hold this button Down.
  • Then press the POWER button.   The Service Menu (I2C) will appear on the screen.
  • To scroll through the Menu use the Up and Down Cursor Keys and/or the Menu button.
  • To go through Service Menu by category, press the Menu button on Front Panel.  Remember, this will not cycle through each page, but each category.
  • To Adjust Data Values, use the Cursor Left and Right Keys.
  • To Exit Menu, press Input button on Front Panel.


      To access the Sub Brightness adjustment, enter the Service Menu and the first menu selection is [SUB BRT], hi-light [SUB BRT] and then press the Right cursor key. The screen will go dark and SUB BRT and the Data Value will appear. Write down the data Value. (Example average data value is 3F).

      To access the Horizontal Position adjustment for Progressive, enter the Service Menu and go to Page 2, the first menu selection on Page 2 is [H-POSI], write down the data Value. Example average data value is 3F).

To access the Horizontal Position adjustment for HD, input an HD signal and enter the Service Menu and go to Page 2, the first menu selection on Page 2 is [H-POSI], write down the data Value. (Example averagedata value is 43).

There are two ways to perform MEMORY INITIALIZATION. One Mechanically and one via the Service Menu. Both will perform the same function.

MEMORY INITIALIZATION VIA SERVICE MENU.

  • The Set should be OFF.
  • Press and hold the INPUT button on the front panel, continue to hold this button Down.
  • Then press the POWER buttonThe Service Menu (I2C) will appear on the screen.
  • Scroll to the bottom using the Cursor Down button and highlight MEM INIT.  WARNING: Be sure to write down the SUB BRIT, H POSI (in progressive and in HD modes) data values before performing the next step.
  • To activate Memory Initialization use the Cursor Right Key.
  • Re-Enter the Data Values for H POSI (in progressive and for HD modes).
  • To Exit Menu, press Input button on Front Panel.
     Another Reset selection is FACTORY RESET. This will reset the Television to the Factory original settings.  This DOES NOT reset I2C data values.

WARNING: DEFLECTION RESET [Def Reset], WILL reset the H POSI (progressive and HD modes) I2C data values. Be sure to write these values down before attempting to perform a Deflection Reset.

MEMORY INITIALIZATION PERFORMED MECHANICALLY

     Be sure to write down the SUB BRIGHT and HD POSI (in progressive and in HD modes) I2C data values before performing this procedure.

     All customers' Auto Programming and Set-Ups are returned to Factory Settings.  SUB BRIGHT, H POSI (in progressive and in HD modes) I2C data values will NOT BE CORRECT after Memory Initialization. Write down the values before Initializing.

  • Disconnect Power to Television.
  • Remove the Back Cover.
  • Remove the two screws holding the Main chassis to the Cabinet if necessary.
  • Disconnect wiring harness clips to free up the chassis if necessary.
  • Reconnect Power to the Television and turn the set ON.
  • Locate PP1 and add a jumper between pins 1 and 2 of the PP1 connector as shown below.
  • Hold jumper in place for 5 seconds. (A beep will NOT be heard).
  • Remove the jumper.

Confirm EEPROM reset, Input source is now set to Air and not to Cable 1 or 2. No Child Lock, and only channels 2 through 13 are in memory.

Reassemble Chassis and reinstall PTV back. Set is now ready to operate.
Re-enter the correct values recorded before performing this procedure for SUB BRIGHT, H POSI in progressive and HD modes.
