V7 GPS _ V7 Nav730 _ V7 Nav740 _ SOFTWARE AND MAP UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS



Ensure you have the following:     { Click on the images to Enlarge }
  1. Personal Computer (PC)
  2. Nav700 or Nav720 Portable Navigation Device (PND)
  3. Mini-USB Cable to connect PND to PC
  4. SD Card and SD Card reader/writer (Optional)
  • Turn PND power off
  • Insert SD Card into PND
  • Turn the PND power on
  • Wait till the PND starts up completely
  • Using mini-USB cable connect PND to PC
  • Connect PND to PC using mini-USB Cable
  • At this point, “PC Connected !!!” message will appear on PND
Windows will recognize the PND as Removable Drive and SD Card Drive.
CHECK DISK SPACE ON PC
A set of map files can be approximately 1GB to 2GB, please ensure enough disk space is available on the PC.
CHECK INTERNET CONNECTION
Ensure that your PC has connection to broad band or DSL connection to internet.
ACCESS WEBSITE FOR DOWNLOAD
Open internet browser on PC, and got to : http://v7support.com/V7GPS/Updates/

SELECT REGION AND MODEL
Click on the 'Region' you are located in then click on model you have.

DOWNLOAD SOFTWARE FILES.
If you would like to update to latest Software version click Software_Files.zip
  • This will start the download. Select to save the file on your PC.
  • After downloading, follow the steps in RESTORE APPLICATION section:
DOWNLOAD MAP FILES
If you would like to update to latest Map files, click on Map_Files,
  • If there are multiple map sets available, click on the map set you would like
  • Create a temporary “MAPS” folder on PC to download map files
  • Click on map files (.fbl) to download each individual map files into “MAPS” folder
  • After downloading, follow the steps in LOAD MAPS section.
RESTORE APPLICATION
Unzip (or extract) Software Files.
Unzip Software_Files.zip file that was downloaded.
  • Depending on software used to unzip, you can double-click on the zip file then Extract
  • Follow the prompt and choose location on PC to extract the folder.
Below example is using WinZip application.

Unzipped folder "Software Files" would have following directories:
Right-Click on 'Start', select 'Explore'
Navigate to your SD Card drive and select  \iGO folder.
Select the file   \iGO.db
Right-Click and select 'copy'
Navigate the cursor Software Files\iGO folder and right-click and select paste.
FORMAT SD CARD
Right click on Start >> select Explore.

Navigate SD card drive, and select drive.
Right-Click and select Format.
Click on Start.
Click OK.
Copy Software to SD card
Navigate the software files folder, and Double-Click Select All the files in the directory, then Right-Click and copy.
Navigate to SD card drive and double click.
Right-Click and paste all the copied files.
Not all maps will fit into PND
This may take up to 10 minutes or more depending on PC.
Now all software files have been restored on SD card.
LOAD MAPS
Copy Downlaoded map files to SD card's maps folder.
  • Navigate to the MAPS folder where maps files were downloaded
  • Hold ctrl key down, select the map files (.fbl) files based on available disk space on SD Card
  •  Right-Click and select copy.
avigate to SD and locate maps folder  {SD Card:\iGO\maps)
Double-click on maps folder, and right-click inside the folder and select paste.
This may take up to 2 Hours or more depending on your PC.
DELETE BACKUP ON PC
Any time Map Loader application is run using autorun.exe from original Backup DVD, the application uses backup files over the files in the DVD as files available files to be installed, so it is important to delete previous version of software files and map files from PC’s hard-drive.
Delete Previously created Backup Files on the PC's Hard Drive.
Right click on Start >> select Explore.

Navigate to "Documents and Settings\(input your user name)\Application Data\iGO" directory.
Select 'iGO' folder and right click and select delete.
If you do not see the "Application Data" directory, this is because this folder is hidden.
Select Tools >> Folder Option.
Click on View tab >> Select show hidden files and folder >> click 'apply'.
If you do not see the  'iGO' folder within "Application Data", your PC does not have Backup Files created, you can go to next step.
