ADJUSTMENTS
The adjustment values are set to their optimum at the factory before shipping. If by any chance a value should become improper or a readjustment is required due to part replacement, make an adjustment according to the following procedure.  Before adjustment, perform aging for approx. 60 minutes to stabilize the unit.
After replacement of any PWB and/or IC for repair, note the following.
When replacing the following units, be sure to prepare the new units loaded with updated software.

PROGRAM RE-WRITING PROCEDURE
Described below is how to write new control software into the flash memory in the unit via the outside computer.
  • PC with parallel port (printer port)
  • Parallel cable (Straight type)
  • Jig PWB (PAL JiGUiF-001)
  • 20-pin cable (1 in the figure below)
  • Application software for the rewriting program (IAP Writer)
  1. Set the PC printer port to EPP or ECP from BIOS setting.
  2. (Settings are different depending on PCs; it is desirable that a skilled person performs this operation.)
  3. Install the application software for the rewriting program (IAP Writer) into the PC.
  4. Connect the PC and the jig PWB with the parallel cable.
  5. Rewrite the program
  1. Unplug the AC cord during power up.
  2. Connect the jig PWB and the AV PWB with the cable (20-pin).  (Connect P5601 of the jig PWB and FD of the AV PWB.)
  3. Start the application software for the REWRITING program (IAP Writer). (If start-up is impossible, recheck the procedure.)
  4. While holding down the "SYSTEM RESET" button, plug in the AC cord to turn on the power.  * LED on the jig PWB lights up.  *Jig PWB connection is automatically detected and the system is shifted to the program rewriting mode.
  5. The rewriting program (IAP Writer) on the PC dictates writing. (Writing conditions are indicated on the IAP Writer.)
  6. Wait until Step 5 is ended.
  7. When ended, exit the IAP Writer.
  8. Turn off the AC power of the unit. (Unplug the AC cord.)
  9. Remove the cable from the jig PWB and the AV PWB.
  10. Turn on the AC power of the unit to check for operation.  (If "TV/VIDEO" and "VOL (+)/(–)" are available, rewriting is completed.)
  11. Factory initialization (INDUSTRY INIT) is required after version update.
ENTERING AND EXITING ADJUSTMENT MODE
  • Before entering the adjustment process mode, press the "RESET" button or adjust the menu image to reset the AV position.
  • Unplug the AC power cord of the running TV to force off the power.
  • While holding down "VOL (–)" and "TV/VIDEO" keys at once, plug in the AC power cord to turn on TV. The letter K appears on the upper left of the screen.
  • Next, hold down the "VOL (–)" and "CH ()" keys at once. Multiple lines of blue characters appearing onscreen indicate that the unit is now in the adjustment process mode. If you fail to enter this mode (the display is the same as normal start-up), retry the procedure.
  • To exit the adjustment process mode after adjustment is completed, unplug the AC cord to force off the power.  (When the power is turned off with the remote control, once plug the AC cord and after approx. 10 seconds plug it in again.)

Caution: Use due care in handling the information described here lest the users should know how to enter the adjustment process mode. If the setting is tampered with in this mode, unrecoverable system damage may result.

LAMP ERROR DETECTION
  • This LCD color TV set incorporates the lamp error detection feature that automatically turns off the power for safety. If the lamp or the lamp circuit is defective or if the lamp error detection is activated for some reason, the following will result.
  • The power is interrupted in approx. 6 seconds after turned on.(The power LED on the front of the TV set turns from green to red and keeps blinking in red: ON for 250ms; OFF for 1 sec)
  • If the phenomenon mentioned in 1 above occurs five consecutive times, the power cannot be turned on.(The LED keeps blinking in red: ON for 250ms; OFF for 1 sec)
Measures
Checking with lamp error detection OFF
Enter the display process, referring to "3. Entering and exiting the display process mode". If the lamp or the lamp circuit is defective, the lamp will go out. (The power LED is green.).  Thus abnormalities can be checked.
Resetting the lamp error circuit
  • After checking for abnormality in the lamp or the lamp circuit, reset the lamp error count. If the lamp error is detected five consecutive times, the power cannot be turned on. Use the "CH “▲/▼” key to move to [LAMP ERROR RESET], (Line 6) on the display process mode service page. Then use the "cursor“◄/►” key to select the [LAMP ERROR RESET] value. Finally press the "cursor“▲/▼”  key to reset the value to "0"
