SONY KV- 32HQ100B - KV-36HQ100B - SCREEN - FOCUS & WHITE BALANCE ADJUSTMENTS



SCREEN [G2] ADJUSTMENT
  • Input a dot signal from the pattern generator.
  • Set the Picture, Brightness and Colour to minimum.
  • Apply 169V DC from an external power supply to the R, G and B cathodes of the CRT.
  • Whilst watching the picture, adjust the G2 control [SCREEN] located on the fly back transformer to the point just before the fly back return lines disappear.
FOCUS ADJUSTMENT
  • Receive a crosshatch pattern from a video generator.
  • Adjust the focus control located on the flyback transformer to the best level at the center of the screen.
  • Check left and right x-axis vertical line thickness and adjust to make them as thin as possible.
  • Considering x-axis and center, adjust to make uniform.
If no crosshatch signal is possible, follow the next three steps.
  • Receive a television broadcast signal.
  • Normalize the picture setting.
  • Adjust the focus control located on the flyback transformer to obtain the best focus at the center of the screen.  Bring only the center area of the screen into focus, the magenta-ring appears on the screen. In this case, adjust the focus to optimize the screen uniformly.
WHITE BALANCE ADJUSTMENT FOR TV MODE
  • Input an all-white signal from the pattern generator.
  • Program the Remote Commander for operation in Service Mode. {To know how to prepare the customer remote control to a service remote control, refer previous posts here}
  • Enter into the ‘Service Mode’ by pressing ‘VIDEO’ button twice and ‘MENU’ on the Service Commander.
  • Select ‘Device Register Setting’ from the on screen menu display and press ‘Right Arrow’.
  • Select ‘Backend’ from the on screen menu display and press ‘Right Arrow’.
  • Set the ‘Contrast’ to MAX.
  • Set the ‘R-Drive’ to 45.
  • Adjust the ‘G-Drive’ and the ‘B-Drive’ so that the white balance becomes optimum.
  • Press the ‘OK’ button to write the data for each item.
  • Set the ‘Contrast’ to MIN.
  • Set the ‘R-Cutoff’ to 35.
  • Adjust the ‘G-Cutoff’, and the ‘B-Cutoff’ with the left and right buttons on the remote commander so that the white balance becomes optimum.
  • Press the ‘OK’ button to write the data for each item.
