FAULTS, SYMPTOMS & RECTIFICATION
- LG PDP42V5: à Dark picture with color noise. à Replace the Y-SUS and Z-SUS boards.
- LG MZ-42PZ44: à Colorful pixels in the picture, in particular in dark areas. à If voltages adjusted correctly, but Y-SUS board replaced unsuccessfully. àReplace Y-SUS board again and reduce display voltages in particular VA.
- LG PDP42V6 Plasma Panel: à Green & red pixels on grey areas or when brightness changes fast. But not visible these pixels when picture is black. à Adjust pots SET_UP and SET_DN on Y-SUS board until pixels quantity is smaller.
- LG PDP42V6 Plasma Panel: à Color noise in the picture, with dark background via AV and HF, but TXT OK. Particularly severe with brightness fluctuations from black to white. à Adjust noise to minimal using pot VR1 and pot VR2 on Y-SUS board.
- LG PDP42V6 Plasma Panel: à A lot of small color points in the picture. à Replace Z-SUS board and C72 (33uF) on Y-SUS board, even it is measure normal. Re-adjust pot SET_DN on Y-SUS board to solve the problem.
- LG PDP42V6 Plasma Panel: à Many green spots on screen. Zoom effect. à Adjust VS voltage for panel and Y-SUS board.
- LG PDP42V6 Plasma Panel: à Dark picture with color noise. à Replace the Y-SUS and Z-SUS boards.
- LG PDP42V6 Plasma Panel: à Whiter dots mainly on dark areas. à Set-up Y-SUS and VS voltage.
- LG RZ-42PX11: à Green dots during switch-over or dark picture. à Adjust voltages and replace all 33uF electrolytic capacitors on the Y-SUS board, also various 1000uF electrolytic capacitors on Y board. These bad electrolytic capacitors can be easily detected with Capacitor ESR tester.
- LG PDP42V8 Plasma Panel: à Has red dots on dark background. à Replace the Y-SUS board and capacitors in PSU. If the problem still exist. Replace the CTRL board.
- Grundig PW1109410TOP Plasma TV: à Color pixels in dark picture parts. The PSU board replace by spare board. VA voltage on both pins is 61V. Values are set exactly , VA=65v, Vpp=188v. However, there is a color snowy picture in dark grey scale. So the set Vpp to 172.2v.
- Gericom GTV4271 Plasma TV: à Picture with color dots, in particular with dark picture sections. Set the VS voltage to 180V.
- Gericom GTV4271 Plasma TV: à Many spots in picture. à Replace the CTRL board. No adjustment cannot be done.
- Tevion MD34598 Plasma TV: àColor dots in the picture, light up during start and disappear after a while. à The components on the Y-SUS board near voltage regulator VR1 are heat/cold sensitive. So adjust the voltage regulator.
- Hyundai Imagequest HPT4241 Plasma TV with PDP42V6 Panel : à Green and white pixels with moving picture. Ok with static picture. à If Y-Drive sub board is replaced; Replace Y-SUS board.
If experiencing a
mal-discharge problem that cannot be eliminated after adjusting all adjustments
correctly and according to the specific Panel voltage label, then you should do
this step now. On this step, do control board ROM upgrade.
- Check and correct back all the voltages same as Panel Voltage Label on the back of panel.
- Must have a JIG board (program installed) & the panel program/firmware.
- Jump the PSU STBY 5v (is standby 5v not M5V 5v) to the CTRL board.
- Disconnect the Y-SUS and Z-SUS board connector.
- Make sure all connection are connect correctly and the cable jump 5v STBY is install properly (you must refer to the manual for their destination position).
- Plug the power cord to TV and on the power.
- Computer or laptop with the JIG program and panel firmware prepared.
- After successfully program the CTRL board, off the TV unplug all connection for 5v STBY jumper wire and JIG cable too.
- Plug it back the Y-SUS and Z-SUS board cable connectors.
- Make sure all connection is normal as original setting and you can on the TV now.
- After doing this step, TV should back to normal now. If not, change the appropriate boards like Y-SUS board, Z-SUS board or CTRL board or all these boards.
