BUTTONS ON THE FRONT PANEL OF THE TV DOESN'T WORK
There are a couple of things you can try. These are described here with more specific instructions on how to access the parental controls, and further down on the page.
- The front panel buttons may be locked. If you have this fucntion, try using he remote control to unlock the front panel controls. Can do this by selecting the 'Front Panel Block' in the Parental Control Menu, and then choosing 'Unblock' or 'View', depending on TV model.
- The front panel menu button may be disabled. If you have this function, use the remote control to turn off 'Channel Blocking' by selecting 'Channel Block' in the parental control menu and then choosing off.
- Try Unplug the TV fro 5 minutes, and the plug it back again. Turn ON the TV.
To Access Parental controls;
- Press the Menu button to access the Main Menu.
- Select 'Parental Controls' menu. On some models, first select the Special or Channel menu. From it,
- Select the Parental controls menu.
- If the parental controls are turned ON, a screen requesting password will appear.
- Enter password.
If you've forgot the parental password; try the following.
Most RCA and GE TV sets use a four digit code to control the v-chip. The code reset procedure is different depending on the model. Try each method until you find one that works:
- Hold down MENU on the remote and VOLUME DOWN on the TV it’s self at the same time for at least 4 seconds. The set won't say so, but the lock will be unlocked.
- Hold down the 0 on the remote and the VOLUME DOWN buttons on the TV its self at the same time for at least 4 seconds. The set won't say so, but the lock will be unlocked.
- Hold down the Menu Button on the Front of the TV, and TV button on the remote at the same time for at least 4 seconds. The set won't say so, but the lock will be unlocked.
- Hold down 'Go Back' on the remote control and Menu button on the Front of the TV for at least 4 seconds.
- Hold down Eject on the front of the TV and Menu button on the remote control for at least 4 seconds [if the set is a combo one].
Depending on the model, one of the methods should unlock the V-chip. Now, if desired, you can change the settings on the V-chip by going to the MENU and going to Parental Controls, or on some sets, going to Menu and then going to TV Setup,then to V-Chip set.
