VIZIO - VUR-8 _ UNIVERSAL REMOTE CONTROL _ SETUP PROCEDURE




PROGRAMMING FOR VCR


Note: The VIZIO Universal Remote Control does not feature a “VCR” device button, but you may program any of the device buttons to act as a VCR device selector, such as DVD, AUDIO or CABLE if you are not using one of those devices.
  • Manually turn on the VCR.
  • Press the button on the remote control which you have selected to control the VCR.
  • Press and hold the SET button until the LED LIGHT flashes twice.
  • Find the programming code for your VCR in the code list in the back of this book and enter it using the Number Buttons. If the code is accepted, the LED flashes twice after the last digit is entered.
  • If the LED does not flash twice, repeat Steps 2 through 4 with the next code listed for the device and manufacturer.
  • Point the remote control at the VCR and press the POWER button. The VCR will turn off.

If your VCR does not respond, try all the codes for your VCR brand. If the codes do not work, or your brand is not listed, see “Searching for Device Codes.”   Sometimes a code listed will only include limited functions. Try other codes that may include more functionality.

PROGRAMMING FOR CABLE SET-TOP BOX
  1. Manually turn on the Cable Box.
  2. Press the CBL button on the remote control.
  3. Press and hold the SET button until the LED LIGHT flashes twice.
  4. Find the programming code for your Cable Box in the code list in the back of this book and enter it using the Number Buttons. If the code is accepted, the LED flashes twice after the last digit is entered.  If the LED does not flash twice, repeat Steps 2 through 4 with the next code listed for the device and manufacturer.
  5. Point the remote control at the Cable Box and press the POWER button. The Cable Box will turn off.

If your Cable Set-Top Box does not respond, try all the codes for your brand. If the codes do not work, or your brand is not listed, see “Searching for Device Codes.”   Sometimes a code listed will only include limited functions. Try other codes that may include more functionality.

PROGRAMMING FOR DVD PLAYER
  • Manually turn on the DVD Player.
  • Press the DVD button on the remote control.
  • Press and hold the SET button until the LED LIGHT flashes twice.
  • Find the programming code for your DVD player in the code list in the back of this book and enter it using the Number Buttons. If the code is accepted, the LED flashes twice after the last digit is entered.  If the LED does not flash twice, repeat Steps 2 through 4 with the next code listed for the device and manufacturer.
  • Point the remote control at the DVD Player and press the POWER button. The DVD Player will turn off.

SEARCHING FOR DEVICE CODES

If you cannot find the manufacturer in the device list or the program code does not work, you can use the remote control to search for the correct device code.
To search for a device code:
  1. Turn on the device.
  2. Press the matching device button on the remote control.
  3. Press and hold the SET button until the LED flashes twice.
  4. Press 9 9 1. The LED flashes twice.
  5. Point the remote control at the device and then alternate between pressing the POWER button and the device button on the remote control until the device turns off.
  6. If the device still does not respond, clear the device button, then repeat the search procedure.
CHANGING VOLUME LOCK

The remote control can be set to control volume through your TV while in Cable/Satellite, DVD, or VCR device modes.
To change the volume lock:
  • Press and hold the SETUP button until the LED flashes twice.
  • Press 9 9 3. The LED flashes twice.
  • Press the device button that you want once. The LED flashes twice. The selected device Volume will now be controlled using VOL+/VOL- while controlling those other devices.
TEACHING THE REMOTE CONTROL

It is recommended that both remotes have fresh batteries for the teaching function.Place teaching and learning remote controls no farther than 2” apart. If elapsed time between pressing keys is 10 seconds or longer the remote control will exit programming mode requiring you to start from Step 1.
  1. Press and hold down the SET key until led blinks twice.
  2. Input code 9 7 5, led blinks twice to confirm code acceptance.
  3. Press the Mode key. (DVD, Audio, Cable or TV).
  4. Press key to be learned. LED will blink rapidly.
  5. Press and hold key to be taught on teaching remote control.
  6. Led will stop blinking rapidly, then blink twice to confirm key has been programmed.
  7. Repeat Steps 3 through 6 until all desired keys are taught into your remote control.
  8. Exit learning mode by pressing SET or by waiting 10 seconds (time out).
CLEARING MEMORY
  • Press and hold down Set until Led blinks twice
  • Input code 9 8 1, led blinks twice signaling code acceptance.
  • In Step 2, code 9 7 7 can be used in instead.
  • The remote control is now ready to be programmed with original codes.
